Nov. 2, 2010 is the beginning of a new term. Let the battle begin. Here in the cactus state, losing the presidential election did not end the race for Senator John McCain. He immediately pulled his team together and started his campaign for a fifth term in the senate. Skeptics say, and I wouldn't put it past the old elephant, that McCain's alternative motive for running to reclaim his seat is to stay in position for the 2012 presidential election.

Will he run again at the withering old age of 80? He shouldn't-I wish he wouldn't- but he probably will, or at least try to. Until then, he can bitterly oppose everything President Barack Obama supports in the senate as the stereotypical, old, white, Republican male. If he gets elected, that is.

Jim Deakin and Rudy Garcia are Republican runners who are challenging McCain's previous four term elections. Beating him is a possibility, too; a slight possibility, but nonetheless, a possibility.

McCain's age was a factor in many voters, when he ran for president and he's not getting any younger. The accompaniment of his outdated ideas lost my vote for him. I don't like that he's against technological and medical advancements like genetic and stem cell research.

Mayor Rudy Garcia, of Florida, is a high profile name that is probably the biggest threat to McCain. Garcia was elected in 2000 and has been elected for two terms since. I'd much rather vote for Garcia than McCain. He's new and has built a solid resume in his political position. I'd vote for him to see how he does in the senate.

Even if he is a Republican, he can't be any worse than McCain-who really wasn't a bad senator. I'd just like to see someone else represent Arizona.

The Democratic Party isn't wasting the money on an election that will end up with a Republican elect anyways, and I think that's smart. Arizona is still a republican state, and is predicted to vote as so.

If Janet Napolitano (D) were up for the running, that would be a different story. She has built a strong reputation throughout Arizona and would certainly give McCain a race. But, she is busy being Head of Homeland Security.

So, from now until November, the race to watch is between John McCain and Rudy Garcia.
