Upon reading your article, "Rate your professor online; sacrifice your grade" published on the April edition of the Scottsdale Chronicle, I could not agree with your opinion. I believe that we as students attending this campus have to accept what these professors have to offer.
I believe that this website (RateMyProfessor.com) is no way for a student to give his or her rating of a professor. These so called "ratings" could be a way for students to attack the professors teaching habits for giving them a bad grade. It could also affect the number of enrollments for that class during a semester; which in turn could determine if the class would be offered in future semesters.
All of the classes that I have taken here, at SCC, have been taught by knowledgeable professors. Most of these professors have "on the job" experience in a specific area, which are in turn incorporated into their classes. In my opinion, professors who teach at this campus should be evaluated on what they offer to the class based on their knowledge and expertise.
I know that there will be students who do not share my opinion. To those students, I tell them this. Wake up and smell the coffee, we are not in high school anymore. There will be professors that you like and some that you might not like. The only thing that you have to do is give the professor your undivided attention for one hour and fifteen minutes and you'll be done with it. Who knows, after doing this, you might like the professor after all.
