Summary: The museum is one of America's largest air museums. It houses President John F. Kennedy's Air Force One, the SR-71 Blackbird Spy Plane, the B-17 Memorial Museum and the Challenger Learning Center of the Southwest. It is also the starting point for the 309th AMARG (Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group) tour.
The museum is a walking tour and you can walk through with a docent who will explain the highlights of the museum. or you can browse on your own. It is well worth the one-hour guided tour because the docents give in-depth information on the planes. The walking tour is inside hangars except for short distances between hangars. It covers Hangar 1, Spirit of Freedom Hangar, Hangars 3 and 4. The tours are included with the cost of admission to the museum. You can check the times of the docent-led tours as you purchase your entrance tickets.
