Editorial: Sarr is best November board candidate

This November, incumbent board member Jerry Walker is running for re-election against contesting candidate Dana Saar. Walker is not singly responsible for all of the Board's problems; however, he has not been the solution to our problems either.

Communication problems improve

While this is an improvement, the board members have a long way to go and are currently beginning to implement some of the suggestions made by an external consulting team put together by Chancellor Rufus Glasper to evaluate their performance.

Rent books; save money

Every semester, students take out loans, use grants, and work hard to pay for their education. Not only do students need to figure in cost of tuition, students also need to set aside hundreds of dollars for books.The problem always arises when I get to the checkout of the bookstore: I become angry. I am outraged because I am forced to pay hundreds of dollars for books that I will only use once.

Industry's attempts to control internet challenges world citizen rights

The recent struggle between China and Google is a good illustration of this. China insists that Google censors search results within its country and Google has been complying with China for the last four years. Google is now reconsidering its previous position on this matter. 
Due to a rash of cyber-attacks originating in China, Google is looking at reversing its censorship policy and opening its search doors to all.

Developmental classes help struggling students

SCC should require students to abide by their placement tests when selecting classes.
An education requires a sturdy foundation. Otherwise problems found later will crumble the rest of the structure.
