The SCC Equine Science Program prepares students for a career in an industry that offers more than one million full-time jobs.

The program allows students to enter the multi-billion-dollar horse industry and saddle up with confidence.

From horse enthusiasts to students pursuing a degree, the program masters individual needs.

The two-year associate's degree program not only uses extensive hands on courses but also includes business courses. This combination enhances the students’ opportunities for successful careers.

Also offered is a Certificate of Completion in Equine Science for individuals who wish to take only equine courses. Of course, any horse enthusiast can enroll in one or more courses to fit interests.

The program offers outstanding education from highly experienced faculty.

Diane Solomon Blazer, Equine Program director, says, “The best part is the background of the adjunct faculty members who are all specialists in the areas they teach."
She adds,  "It brings ‘real life’ situations into play and helps insure the curriculum remains viable and ‘user friendly’.”

After the program students go right to work in the industry, transfer to a four-year college or apply the knowledge from individual courses to their own horse-keeping needs at home.
Equine Veterinarian Dr. Jack Sales says the equine science program is, “a real practical program for horse lovers.”

Community member Sally Waters recently purchased a property and hopes to get a horse someday. She has always loved horses but taking courses and pursuing her interest never crossed her mind. When she was informed of the Equine Science Program offered at Scottsdale Community College she was intrigued.

“I never thought there were accredited classes to explore horses,”  Waters says. “I can’t wait to clear my schedule and spend time with my favorite animal.”
